Feature Description/Benefit
A setting is provided to enable/disable third-party managers.
When disabled, the CCM appliance will not respond to get/set
commands from SNMP managers. SNMP traps will continue
to function.
When SNMP is enabled, it is possible to restrict the managers
that are able to access the CCM appliance. Up to 4 allowable
managers may be specified. Requests from other managers will
be ignored. The CCM appliance further allows for configuration of
SNMP read, write, and trap community names.
The CCM appliance configuration cannot be viewed or altered via
third-party SNMP managers. Configuration is accomplished via
command line or the GUI-based AVWorks software application,
which makes use of an SSL-encrypted SNMP session.
Configuration, whether GUI-based or CLI-based, is username
and password protected.
The CCM appliance can be configured to send a trap when a
user logon is successful.
The CCM appliance can be configured to send a trap when a
user authentication failure is detected. The trap contains the
username that failed.
The CCM appliance supports a user lockout feature that will
disable an account if multiple unsuccessful logon attempts occur.
The feature may be enabled or disabled. In addition, length of the
lockout time, in hours, may be specified. If enabled, an SNMP trap
will be generated when an account is locked.
The CCM appliance, if enabled, will send an SNMP trap to
indicate the start and end of each serial session. The trap will
indicate the username and the port accessed.
The CCM appliance, if enabled, will send an SNMP trap upon
reception of specific text strings from an attached device. Up to
10 strings can be configured per port. For example, port 5 of a
CCM appliance might be configured to send an alert if the string
'panic' or 'abort' or 'password' is detected. The CCM appliance
performs this operation whether or not a user session is in
progress. The trap will contain the text string and port information.
The CCM appliance, if enabled, will send an SNMP trap when
changes are made to the on-board configuration database. For
example, a trap may be issued if a user account is added,
deleted, or modified. Likewise, the CCM appliance will send an
alert if the unit is reboot or the firmware is upgraded.
The CCM appliance, if enabled, will send an SNMP trap when a
target device is powered up or down, or disconnected from the
CCM appliance. The CCM appliance requires the definition of an
inbound RS-232 signal such as DTR to determine that the target
device is powered. Logs of these traps, when cross-referenced
with room access logs can be used to determine who was in a
room when the target device was tampered with.
